Adding and Removing Domains and Subdomains

What this is

You can connect additional domains and subdomains to your website — useful for hosting a blog on blog.yourdomain.com or adding an alternate domain name.

How to add a domain

  1. Go to Websites → click your website.
  2. Click the Domains tab in the top navigation.
  3. Click Add domain.
  4. Select the type: addon domain, alias, or subdomain.
  5. Fill in the domain name (and document root directory, if prompted).
  6. Click Add.

Managing a domain

Click the ⋯ menu next to any domain → Manage. From here you can:

  • Change the document root (the folder the domain points to).
  • Enable DKIM for email authentication.
  • Configure mail routing.
  • Manage DNS records.

Removing a domain

Click the ⋯ menu next to the domain → Delete.

Heads up: Deleting an addon domain also removes its DNS zone. Make sure you no longer need any DNS records associated with it.

Good to know

  • Subdomains can be added as part of an existing website (sharing files and resources) or as a separate website (with their own independent resources).
  • Your hosting plan may limit the number of domain aliases you can add.
