Choosing Your PHP Version
What this is
Each website can run its own PHP version, and you can change it at any time. Using a recent PHP version gives you better performance, security, and compatibility with modern plugins and themes.
How to change your PHP version
- Go to Websites → click your website → Advanced → Developer Tools.
- In the PHP section, scroll to PHP version.
- Select the version you want from the dropdown.
- Confirm in the modal and click Update.
Available versions
PHP 8.5, 8.4, 8.3 (default for new sites), 8.2, 8.1, 8.0, 7.4, and older versions are available. We recommend using the newest version your site supports.
Good to know
- When you change PHP versions, incompatible extensions are automatically disabled.
- Some older plugins may not work on PHP 8.x. If your site breaks after upgrading, switch back and check the error log.
- IonCube loader is not available on all PHP versions.
