Creating a Database User
What this is
A database user is a login that your website uses to connect to its database. You create the user first, then assign it to one or more databases.
How to create a database user
- Go to Websites → click your website → Databases tab.
- Click Add user.
- Enter a username and password.
- Optionally assign access to existing databases.
- Click Add.
Managing users
Click a database user to:
- Change their password.
- Add or remove database access.
- Grant or revoke specific privileges.
- Allow remote access (see Allowing remote MySQL connections).
Good to know
- If you remove all privileges for a user on a specific database, that user no longer appears under that database's listing.
- You can have multiple users with different permission levels on the same database — useful for giving a developer read-only access.
