Creating a Staging Copy of Your Site

What this is

A staging site is a private test copy of your live website. You can make changes, test updates, and try new plugins without affecting your real site. When everything looks good, you push the staging version live.

How staging works

  • Staging sites use a special address like yoursite.staging.trustedge.gt.
  • They don't count against your website limit.
  • They have all the same features as regular websites except custom domain mapping and email.
  • Staging sites are set to noindex by default — search engines won't index them.
  • In your website list, staging sites are marked with a STG tag.

How to create a staging site

  1. Go to Websites → Add new.
  2. Select Start from scratch, Install an app, or Clone a website.
  3. Check the Make this a staging site box.
  4. Click Add.

You can also create a staging copy directly from your website's dashboard — look for the Clone to staging option.

Good to know

  • Staging sites can't have addon domains.
  • If you use Cloudflare, the Cloudflare integration doesn't work with staging domains. Use TrustEdge's built-in DNS for staging.
