Creating an FTP/SFTP Account
What this is
FTP (File Transfer Protocol) lets you transfer files between your computer and your website using an FTP client like FileZilla, Cyberduck, or WinSCP. It's a good alternative to the built-in file manager when you're working with many files or large transfers.
How to create an FTP account
- Go to Websites → click your website.
- Click the Advanced tab → FTP.
- Click Add account.
- Enter a username and password.
- Optionally set a directory to restrict this account to a specific folder.
- Click Add.
After creation, the panel shows the host and port information you'll need for your FTP client.

Managing FTP accounts
Click the ⋯ menu next to an account → Manage (to change settings) or Delete (to remove it).
Good to know
- FTP accounts are restricted (jailed) to a specific directory by default, usually your document root.
- For a more secure connection, consider using SSH/SFTP instead. See Enabling SSH access.
