Editing Files in the Browser

What this is

The built-in file manager includes a text editor, so you can make quick changes to configuration files, PHP scripts, HTML, or CSS without downloading anything.

How to edit a file

  1. Go to Files → navigate to the file.
  2. Right-click the file → Edit (or click the ⋯ menu → Edit).
  3. Make your changes in the editor.
  4. Click Save.

Good to know

  • This is a plain-text editor — it works great for .php, .html, .css, .htaccess, .txt, and similar files.
  • For major edits or working with many files at once, a desktop code editor with SFTP is usually more comfortable. See Creating an FTP/SFTP account.
