Setting Up Scheduled Tasks (Cron Jobs)
What this is
Cron jobs let you run scripts or commands on a schedule — for example, sending a weekly email digest, cleaning up old files, or triggering a WordPress task.
How to create a cron job
- Go to Websites → click your website → Advanced → Developer Tools.
- Click Cron jobs in the sidebar.
- Set the schedule (minute, hour, day of month, month, day of week).
- Enter the command to run.
- Save.
Example commands
| Task |
Command |
| Run a PHP script |
/usr/bin/php -f /var/www/your-site-id/path/to/script.php |
| Hit a URL (trigger a web endpoint) |
wget -q -O /dev/null "https://yourdomain.com/cron.php" |
Good to know
- Cron jobs start in your home directory (
/var/www/{site-id}), so you can use relative paths if you prefer.
- WordPress cron is handled by the server's built-in scheduler for better reliability — you don't need to set up a separate cron job for
wp-cron.php unless you have a specific reason.
- Cron jobs cannot be edited via SSH. They must be managed through this panel interface.
