Using External DNS (Cloudflare, etc.)
What this is
If you prefer to manage your DNS at Cloudflare, your domain registrar, or another DNS provider instead of using TrustEdge's nameservers, you can. You'll just need to point the right records to your TrustEdge server.
What you need to set up
At your external DNS provider, create these records:
| Record |
Name |
Value |
| A |
@ (or your domain) |
Your TrustEdge server's IP address |
| A |
www |
Same IP address |
| MX |
@ |
mail.yourdomain.com (if using TrustEdge email) |
| A |
mail |
Your TrustEdge server's IP address (for webmail) |
Your server IP is shown in the control panel when you view your website's overview.
Important considerations
- Let's Encrypt SSL still works with external DNS — it validates via HTTP, so as long as the A record points to TrustEdge, certificates will issue normally.
- Email routing: If you use a third-party email provider (like Google Workspace or Microsoft 365) instead of TrustEdge email, set the domain's Mail routing to Remote mail in the domain management page.
- DNS changes won't sync automatically. When you add or change domains in TrustEdge, you'll need to update your external DNS records manually.
