Cloning a Website

What this is

Cloning creates an exact duplicate of an existing website — files, databases, and configuration. It's useful for spinning up a new project based on a template site, or creating a copy for testing.

How to clone a website

  1. Go to Websites → Add new.
  2. Select Clone a website.
  3. Choose the source website from the dropdown.
  4. Click Add.

What happens during cloning

  • All files are duplicated.
  • The database is copied and configuration files (like WordPress wp-config.php) are updated automatically.
  • If it's a WordPress site, the site URL in the database is updated to match the new domain.

Good to know

  • You can clone a site and check Make this a staging site at the same time — this gives you a test copy without using a website slot.
  • Redis cache data is not included in clones.
