DNS (Domain Name System) is like a phone book for the internet — it translates domain names (like yourdomain.com) into IP addresses (like 203.0.113.42) so browsers know where to find your website.
When your domain's nameservers are pointed to ns1.trustedge.gt and ns2.trustedge.gt, we manage all your DNS records automatically. When you add a website, set up email, or change a domain, the right DNS records are created and updated for you.
If you use external DNS (like Cloudflare or your domain registrar's DNS), you'll need to manage records manually.
| Term | What it means |
|---|---|
| A record | Points a domain to an IPv4 address. |
| AAAA record | Points a domain to an IPv6 address. |
| CNAME record | Points a domain to another domain name. |
| MX record | Tells email where to deliver for your domain. |
| TXT record | Holds text data — used for SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and verification. |
| SRV record | Points to a specific service (like VoIP or chat). |
| TTL | "Time to live" — how long DNS resolvers cache a record before checking again. Default is 1400 seconds (~23 minutes). |
