Primary Domains vs Alias Domains

What this is

Every website has a primary domain — the main address visitors use (like yourbusiness.com). You can also add alias domains that point to the same website content.

How they work

  • Primary domain: The canonical address of your site. This is what shows up in search engines and browser address bars.
  • Alias domain (parked domain): A secondary domain that shows the same content as the primary. You can optionally set it to redirect to the primary domain, which is usually recommended for SEO.
  • www: By default, www.yourdomain.com is treated as an automatic alias of your primary domain. No setup needed.
  • Preview domain: A temporary address (like yoursite.preview.trustedge.gt) that lets you test your website before pointing your real domain. Useful when you're setting things up for the first time.

When to use alias domains

  • You own multiple domain names and want them all to lead to the same site (e.g., mybiz.com and mybiz.net).
  • You want to redirect an old domain to your new one.
