Setting Up Scheduled Tasks (Cron Jobs)

What this is

Cron jobs let you run scripts or commands on a schedule — for example, sending a weekly email digest, cleaning up old files, or triggering a WordPress task.

How to create a cron job

  1. Go to Websites → click your website → Advanced → Developer Tools.
  2. Click Cron jobs in the sidebar.
  3. Set the schedule (minute, hour, day of month, month, day of week).
  4. Enter the command to run.
  5. Save.

Example commands

Task Command
Run a PHP script /usr/bin/php -f /var/www/your-site-id/path/to/script.php
Hit a URL (trigger a web endpoint) wget -q -O /dev/null "https://yourdomain.com/cron.php"

Good to know

  • Cron jobs start in your home directory (/var/www/{site-id}), so you can use relative paths if you prefer.
  • WordPress cron is handled by the server's built-in scheduler for better reliability — you don't need to set up a separate cron job for wp-cron.php unless you have a specific reason.
  • Cron jobs cannot be edited via SSH. They must be managed through this panel interface.
