Working with Archives (zip, tar, gz)

What this is

You can compress files into .zip archives and extract them directly in the file manager — useful for uploading or downloading many files at once.

How to compress files

1. In the Files tab, select the files or folders you want to compress.
2. Right-click → Compress.
3. Choose a name for the archive.

How to extract an archive

1. Right-click the .zip file → Uncompress.
2. If files with the same name already exist, you'll be asked whether to overwrite them.

Good to know

• Compression works with .zip format.
• For very large archives, compressing and extracting via SSH may be faster. See Enabling SSH access.
