My Site Is Slow or Hitting Resource Limits
What's happening
Your website is loading slowly or returning errors because it's using too much CPU, memory, or disk.
How to diagnose
-
Check resource graphs: Go to your website dashboard and review the CPU, memory, and I/O graphs. Look for spikes or sustained high usage.
-
Check the error log: Go to Developer Tools → PHP → php-error.log. Memory exhaustion or timeout errors point to specific scripts.
-
Check disk usage: If your disk is full, uploads, database writes, and even email will stop working.
How to fix it
Quick wins
- Enable caching: Turn on opcode caching and Redis. If you're on LiteSpeed, install the LSCache plugin. See Caching options.
- Optimize images: Large, uncompressed images are a common cause of slow pages.
- Deactivate unused plugins: Every active plugin consumes resources.
- Update PHP: Newer PHP versions are significantly faster. See Choosing your PHP version.
If you're hitting hard limits
- Increase
memory_limit in php.ini if you're getting memory errors.
- If you've optimized everything and still need more resources, contact representative@trustedge.gt about upgrading your plan.
